The Journey Of Soldier’s Widow to Army Officer Lt. Priyanka Nilesh Khot is very inspiring, a brave woman who turned her pain into her strength and the biggest sorrow of her life into a new purpose. She is a widow of a late soldier Naik Nilesh Khot, who served 13 years in the Signal Corps of the Indian Army. Who died on 9 November 2022, her world became empty due to the sudden death of her husband. It was not easy for her to survive the life after the biggest tragedy. With deep wounds in her heart and the responsibility of her young daughter and family, Priyanka started working as a teacher in a private school in her village. Still, amidst all the struggles of life, the uniform worn by her husband in the Indian Army that memory always remained alive.
Then the dream of serving the country by wearing the olive green uniform awakened in her too, like her husband did. A turning point in her life amidst the pain and suffering arise when she came to know about the Veer Nari Special Entry Scheme, which provides a golden opportunity for the widows of soldiers to join the armed forces as an officer cadre. With passion, courage and determination in her heart, she started preparing for the Service Selection Board (SSB), one of the toughest selection processes in the country. That road was not easy for her, but Priyanka did not gave up. She believed in herself with determination, worked hard and finally cleared the SSB. After that she reached at Officers Training Academy in Chennai for training.
During her training at OTA, she had to undergo a test of physical endurance and mental strength at every step, but she faced all challenge with confidence and strength. Her motivation was not just her own dream, but also her promise to honor her husband’s sacrifice and build a future that her daughter can feel proud. Finally, the day came when Priyanka stood proudly in her olive green uniform with stars on both her shoulders. She is no longer just a Veer Nari, but an officer of the Indian Army. On that day, the world saw not just a mother or a widow, but a brave woman who set an unimaginable example in society by fighting the circumstances and rising again.
The story of Lieutenant Priyanka Nilesh Khot is an inspiration for all of us.
